Why is Walk for Prems so important?
An introduction to Life's Little Treasures Foundation from CEO, Karin Vosmansky
In Australia, each year 48,000 babies are born premature or sick and with your help the Life’s Little Treasures Foundation can support these families along their journey. Walk for Prems has raised over 2.2 million dollars and this year we hope to raise $350,000.
We are so grateful for your participation in our virtual walk and with your support we can continue to provide Australian families with the help and care they need in 2021. We hope you enjoy the fun and spirit of being part of this wonderful community event.
This year's Walk for Prems wouldn’t be possible without our amazing sponsors
An extra special thank you to our Presenting Partner Baby Bunting. More than 500 Baby Bunting team members have registered for this year’s Walk and the work that has gone on in store has been phenomenal! Their support is heartfelt and sincere and we are so lucky to have such a dedicated partner!
We would also like to say a huge thank you to our Major Sponsor Steelcraft for coming on board this year and donating our major prizes.
How to Walk for Prems virtually
Our Walk MC Wendy Ealey explains how to Walk for Prems virtually.
Living in isolation is something prem families are all too familiar with and while we can’t all walk as one this year, we want to make sure you all feel a part of this very special community and enjoy being outdoors doing something really positive.
Here's Wendy to run through the plan of the day, what's on offer and how to make the most of this year's Virtual event as we all celebrate together where we are to support families of premature and sick babies.
Remembering Our Little Treasures
The Dove Ceremony is a very special part of the Walk each year and where we show our respects for the families whose babies have sadly passed away. This year, our ceremonial release of white doves is done by Claire Penny and Tash Foote, followed by Tash reading a short dedication.
Please join in by blowing bubbles in your own ceremony before you begin your walk. We finish off with a tribute to some very special angels and with a beautiful song, Sanctuary sung by the very talented Dawn Faith.
A Very Special Tribute to Shusannah Morris
2 April 1968 - 15 March 2020
As we all pause today to remember the little treasures we so dearly miss, we also remember our beloved CEO & Co-founder, Shusannah Morris on this the 11th Walk for Prems, and the first one without her.
The foundation is testament to Shusannah’s generosity, her incredible energy and her desire to bring together a community of support – from families in hospital, prems at home and as they grow, extended families, grandparents, health professionals, and corporate sponsors, all with the common goal of improving lives for families, together.
Although today’s walk is different to our usual ones, we know it will be a fabulous day wherever we are in the world, where we come together to feel connected and supported as we remember, reflect and celebrate the journey that has brought us here today.
We thank Shusannah for facilitating that and for everything she has done for this community. We miss her terribly.

How Your Donations Help
Life’s Little Treasures Foundation is Australia’s foremost charity dedicated to providing support, programs, friendship, and information, specifically tailored for families of premature or sick babies in hospitals (neonatal and special care units) and in the community when families come home.
Founded in 2005 by parents who had a sick or premature baby, they realised how important it was for families to have access to information and a community they they could identify with and feel a part of.
Having a child that is sick or premature can be a very traumatic rollercoaster ride and the Foundation strives to give families the support and assistance they need. Your generous donation makes sure we can do this.
A family with a premature or sick baby receives a comprehensive hospital folder ‘A Guiding Hand’ to help guide and inform them during this vulnerable time.
Provides two siblings with a colouring in book and pencils to gently educate them about what they may hear, see & feel with a brother/sister in a Neonatal Unit.
Provides a ‘Precious Prem Pack’ designed to give emotional and educational support to a NICU or Special Care family.
Provides a Fuel Voucher to enable families to travel to be with their baby in hospital.
Provides a parent with a ‘Little Bag of Calm’ to encourage parents to take a moment for self-care.
Hosts one monthly Treasure Time Community Support Playgroup for families.
Provides a family in crisis with practical support such as Food and Accommodation vouchers during their hospital stay.
Hosts an in-hospital Morning Tea for families currently in the NICU unit providing peer-to-peer emotional support.
Delivery of two Brekkie Bar drops to provide food to families in the parent’s lounge of NICU/SCN.
